Hackers on a Plane People always ask me what Hackers on a Plane (or HOAP for short) is when I mention the logo and website. It's a group of hackers who travel together from one tech conference to another--the sort of trip from which legends are made. The logo for the project was a major challange as it encorporated many elements from avaition to the Dharma Initiative. I created a main Hackers on a Plain logo as well as logos for two individual trips, HOAP 2 (seen here) and HOAP 1.6. I also designed a Wordpress theme for the HOAP website. The website and banner with my logos were featured on BoingBoing! |

GVSU Electrical & Computer Engineering The Electrical and Computer Engineering website at Grand Valley State University wanted their own website seperate from the rest of the Engineering department at the University. My concept is a simple yet professional design with a focus on content. The website uses custom lists, rounded corners, simple graphics to complete this effect. As requested, the site is setup so that someone with minimal knowledge of HTML can easily update the content. This site is not yet live. |

Emsyde Design Andrew came looking to me for a logo and website design for his small company, Emsyde Design. We decided to start with the logo and work from there. Andrew wanted something that represented his company which does hardware and software design. I took the hardware route and created something that represented a hardware chip. Andrew liked the blue and green I used for the logo so I had them in mind as a starting point when I began on the website. Andrew wanted something simple and uncluttered that looked professional. He wanted something that could be seen in all browsers, including those with 800 x 600 resolutions. I created something simple yet elegant, a design that is still being used on the Emsyde website today. |

Miric Associates The folks at Miric Associates were rather unfortunate. They paid too much money for a website no one would want to share with the public. (Think mid 1990s: animated gifs, too many things centered, and large headings in Times New Roman.) They came to a colleauge of mine looking for something quick--they needed a better online identity, fast! My colleague completed the main design for the site and then asked me to help with the rest. The company supplied me with brochures and websites for the products the company sells, and I used them to write the copy for their website. I learned so much about metal finishing and spray-on tanning! |
